Rafael Devers Is THE Dark Horse For Another Red Sox World Series Run
The Red Sox are less than two weeks away from the start of their title defense during the 2019 season. 2018 saw special seasons from players such as J.D. Martinez and Mookie Betts. But, there is one player that every fan should hope takes a step as a “dark horse” this season. That player is Rafael Devers.
Devers Has The Hitting Ability Of A Three Hitter
Devers has always been known for his ability to hit. He was one of the key contributors in the World Series last season against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is in fact so good with hitting that people think that he has the potential to be a three hitter for the Red Sox.
After a bad day at the plate, Rafael Devers found J.D. Martinez in the Red Sox’ locker room.
“What’d you see?”
“Same guy. Swinging at everything.”
Devers laughed. Martinez wants to help.

Imagine a guy of J.D. Martinez’s talent level challenges you to eventually hit third in a lineup that just won a World Series? You say yes 10 out of 10 times! This lineup can be that much better if Devers finds himself consistently hitting in the third spot of the lineup. Having table setters such as Mookie and Andrew Benintendi can help pave the way for Devers to knock in a lot of runs this season.
Devers Improving His Defense Can Help
Let’s face it, the Red Sox third baseman was not the greatest when it came to patrolling the hot corner. Don’t believe me? See for yourself!

If Rafael Devers can clean his defense, his future is BRIGHT.

In Rafael Devers’ defense it’s a solid 6 hours past his bedtime right now

I think you get the point by now. Devers was second in the MLB in errors with 24 and had a .926 fielding percentage. Quite frankly, that’s not great. If Devers can improve his defense, the Red Sox infield will be solid all season.
Devers Is A Future Core Member Of This Team
Everybody knows that the Red Sox core involves Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Andrew Benintendi, and Xander Bogaerts, just to name a few of them. Devers is not at that level yet. But, he will be in the near future. He is only 22 years old, so he will be a core member of this team very soon.
In Conclusion
Devers is a very important member of this Red Sox team. He can hit and has working non-stop to improve his defense since last season.

If he can take a huge step forward in 2019, it only helps the Red Sox. Watch out for Rafael Devers to be the “dark horse” for the Red Sox in 2019. Let’s get this season started already, shall we?
