If you read my articles you can tell how much I love baseball. One of my favorite days of the year is Pitchers and Catchers Day. Yes I capitalized all the words. It is a holiday to me. That is the day pitchers and catchers report to spring training. Which means it is a start of a new baseball season. Every team is 0-0 and preparing for the season ahead. No one knows who will win the World Series, who will be the surprise team in October, or who will be the team that disappoints the most. For me I love predicting what will happen in the season. Starting next week I will be giving my predictions for each division then the playoffs and awards. Check out Pat’s article on the NL East.

What Does Pitchers and Catchers Reporting Mean?

As I just said this is an important date. There are some teams that are gearing up for a deep postseason run, teams like the Dodgers, Braves, Rays, Yankees, and a few others have their eyes set on October. Where as, teams like the Red Sox, White Sox, Blue Jays, and some others are trying to develop their young talent.

For the teams that want to make a postseason run they need to focus on completely different things than the teams developing talent. Teams wanting to develop players does not mean they cannot win. It just means that they will try out more players to see who fits. Where the teams trying to win it all will try to get their top end guys in a grove for the start of the season.

What I Am Most Excited About?

There are so many things to be excited about when it comes to Spring Training. But, 2021 is a different type of excitement. After COVID-19 made the 2020 season one-of-a-kind I am ready to get back to a normal 162.

So I am most excited about seeing a full season in 2021. I want to see what the next young player become a superstar. I love watching the young players come into their own throughout the season. Seeing guys like Tatis, Acuna, and others become the next crop of superstars has been so much fun.

What To Expect From Me

As I said in the intro I will be doing season predictions starting next week. I will be switching from the American League to the National League each week. Then once I get to the playoffs I will do awards too. I will say who will be breakout players and who will have a down year. I cannot wait for baseball season to start.
