Caught up with free-agent WR Phillip Dorsett, who would be open to a return. But he’s prepared for anything. “I’ve never been through this process. I don’t know what the future holds for me,” he said. “I believe [Bill Belichick] wants me back, but you never know how it will go.”

The Patriots have had conversations with Phillip Dorsett about a possible return, source said.

The Patriots need to do the right thing here
Personally, I think we would have been screwed without Phillip Dorsett last season. He and Brady have created some very noticeable chemistry since his arrival to New England almost 2 years ago. The wideout may not put up big-time numbers, but his presence certainly makes a difference. He was a big help when Josh Gordon got suspended towards the end of the year, most notably with his TD in the AFC Championship game.
Dorsett is going to be a guy that you don’t really need to break the bank for. It seems like he enjoys being here too, and he already knows the system. I think (barring the price), adding him back to this receiving core should be a no-brainer for the Pats. Let’s run it back again.
