Patriots Sign Former Browns Wide Reciever Kenny Britt

After being released four days ago by the Cleveland Browns, the Patriots scooped up WR Kenny Britt today, signing him to a two year deal.

He posted a 1,000 yard season last year with the Rams, but Britt has sort of fallen off the map since signing with the Browns. In 9 games he has racked up just 18 receptions for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns.

So why would the Patriots do this? For starters, the team showed interest in him this summer, but Britt’s price tag was way too high. Now they get the player they wanted and get to pay practically nothing for him. Another reason might be that the offense looked like dog shit last night with Gronkowski suspended, so adding another big target for Brady definitley helps. Oh yeah, Britt also went to Rutgers, and we all know how Bill Belichick feels about Rutgers players.

Overall, I like the signing if Britt can go back to how he played last year. Anyone who can put up 1,000 yards with a combo of Case Keenum & Jared Goff (both terrible last season) is okay in my book. But if he continues to play like he has been this year I doubt he sees year two of that contract.
