Patriots Make Their Presence Felt at the ESPYS
The Patriots made out with an award probably anybody could have predicted them to come home with at ESPN’s annual ESPY awards. They won the best game of the year award. They also could have won the award for best game of the decade, and century with their performance in the Super Bowl this past season. It was most likely the greatest Super Bowl ever, and might only be rivaled by the Miracle on Ice at the 1980 Winter Olympics. However, that’s not the only way they proved that they were around at this ceremony.
When accepting the award, Julian Edelman decided to throw a little shade at the host of the awards, Peyton Manning. Although Manning is easily the best choice to host something like this because the guy is a riot, he is also a great target for other athletes to hurl some jokes at too. Edelman said “I never really thought I’d say this but, Peyton Manning’s kinda killin it.” However, he followed up this compliment with “Yeah, we are indoors though.” Ouch, a direct stab at the fact that Manning was never a good player in outside environments, and thrived only in domes during his career.
Tom Brady may not have been in attendance, but he didn’t hesitate to remind Peyton how many more Super Bowls he has won than him. He was a part of a skit with Manning comically being in an old folks home (since he is now retired). Brady is video chatting with his “grandmother” in the skit, when Peyton walks over angrily. Brady’s grandmother asks Manning if he won 5 Super Bowls too, to which he angrily walks away to take a nap, and rides off on his scooter. Take a sec to check it out in the link below.

All season long, and even beyond that, the Patriots will never fail to remind us how great they are, and give us more reason to love them. And for all the haters, endless reason to continue hating the greatness.
