Patriots, Edelman Agree on Two-Year Contract Extension

Yesterday it was announced that the Patriots and wide receiver Julian Edelman agreed on a two year contract extension worth up to $15M. The contract also includes a $5M signing bonus, according to ESPN.

Since 2013, Edelman only trails Antonio Brown, Demaryius Thomas, Julio Jones, and Larry Fitzgerald in receptions. At what everages out to around $7M a year for Edelman, this extension feels like a steal for the Pats. Not only has he been productive, but he has also been the heart and soul of the Patriots offense next to Tom Brady. That’s something you can’t put a price on. Edelman is a stud, and I’m glad a deal was able to be worked out to keep him in New England.
