NFL New Uniforms Ranked

With the Rams release of their uniforms, all the new uniforms have now been released for the coming season. Some teams have reverted back to more classic looks, and some have moved to a more modern look. Here is a breakdown on how these teams did.

#6: Atlanta Falcons

Which NFL team had the top uniform makeover this offseason?

The Falcons really blew this one. They have a color scheme with so much potential. Black and red is such a good combination. The blocky numbers don’t look like the Falcons anymore, and the drop shadow feels unnecessary.  They missed a huge opportunity not going back to a red helmet with the black logo. I kinda like the gradient jersey just as something different, and the chrome facemasks are kind of cool. Maybe they’ll look better once they hit the field, but for now they look like a fake team from a movie.

#5: Los Angeles Rams

Rams news: Los Angeles unveils new uniforms for 2020 season

At least the Rams still kind of look like the Rams, and now their uniforms match from head to toe. Otherwise, these stink. The new logo does not look nearly as good on the helmet as the old horn. The gradient number looks like they had to decide on something new and threw it in at the last second. The blue on blue look isn’t a great one, and the away color being  bone? I didn’t actually believe that was a color at first. White works perfectly fine for the other 31 teams so why do they have to change things. The worst part might be the chest patch, letting us know they are indeed the Rams. At least they went back to the better color scheme. I hope for their sake it looks better in action.

#4: New England Patriots

I don’t necessarily hate the Pats new uniforms, I just find them underwhelming. The color rush was just okay when it was released, and it’s still just okay as their primary. It does look a lot nicer in white though, I will give it that. They lose a lot of points for having only blue pants though. The white on blue looks nice, but monochromatic blue on blue isn’t great. They have a uniform with so much potential, especially going into a new era. I would’ve loved a white helmet, or a red alternate in the same style. I hope they add onto this look because this just doesn’t cut it.

#3: Cleveland Browns

The Browns' new uniforms are a sign they're making good decisions ...

Thankfully the Browns took their uniforms backwards a little bit. The drop shadow numbers, large “CLEVELAND” on the chest, and “BROWNS” in the pant stripe was way too much. They are a simple team, and their uniforms should reflect it. I don’t even hate the all brown color rush completely, I just wish they would add an outline to the number. As nitpicky as it is, that lands them at 3.

#2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bucs New 2020 Uniforms Revealed

Another team that took a step back on their uniforms for the better. The Bucs alarm clock numbers they’ve been wearing has made them look like a defunct arena football team. The two tone shoulders didn’t make the look any better. Going back to their look of the early 2000s was a good decision. It’s much cleaner, and is a reminder of a more successful time for the team. The pewter alternates even look good. I’ve always thought they would look great with black alternates, but the pewter is close enough. They aren’t quite as good as the creamsicle throwbacks, but definitely a positive change nonetheless.

#1: Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers absolutely won the offseason with their uniforms. They are going full time to the powder blues again, which is one of the best uniforms ever. Yellow pants are added for a nice touch, with a stylish lightning bolt instead of a stripe. They kept the royal blue color rush, but also added a navy blue color rush that is kind of a spin off of their early 2000s look, but even better. The addition of numbers to the helmet is nice as well. They’ve always had somewhat empty helmets, and they also make the bolt on the helmet match the pants. These uniforms are awesome and should stay for years to come.
