Rejoice New York Giants fans, the Giants have fired head coach Joe Judge after two losing seasons.
The firing of Judge comes on the heels of general manager Dave Gettleman retiring after four seasons with the organization.

“(Co-owner) Steve (Tisch) and I both believe it is in the best interest of our franchise to move in another direction,” Giants co-owner John Mara said in a statement. “We met with Joe yesterday afternoon to discuss the state of the team. I met again with Joe this afternoon, and it was during that conversation I informed Joe of our decision. We appreciate Joe’s efforts on behalf of the organization.
“I said before the season started that I wanted to feel good about the direction we were headed when we played our last game of the season. Unfortunately, I cannot make that statement, which is why we have made this decision.
“We will hire a general manager and that person will lead the effort to hire a new head coach.”
Joe Judge failed in New York
During his tenure with the Giants, Judge went 10-23 in his two years.
Judge came from New England with the hopes of bringing some of the Patriot Way magic. Instead, like most disciples from the Bill Belichick coaching tree, Judge failed miserably.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Dec. 26 that the Giants planned to bring Judge back for the 2022 season. Instead, the Giants ownership had a change of heart.
Following the Giants Week 17 loss to the Bears, Judge went on a passionate rant about his team. Which included a shots at other teams during his rant.
“This ain’t a team that is having fistfights on the sidelines. This ain’t some clown show organization or something else,” Judge said. “You talk about the foundation built. The toughest thing to change in a team, in a club, is the way people think. You understand that? That is the toughest thing. You can get new players, you can have your damn locker room all you want, you have to change how people think, you have to change how they f—ing believe in what you’re doing. And they have to trust the process. And that is a lot easier said than done when they’re looking up right now and you’ve got one game left and the most you can win is five this season.”
Giants news a fresh start after Joe Judge
The Giants have the ability for a fresh start, again, in replacing Judge and Gettleman. Besides finding a new general manager and head coach, the team will have to deal with Daniel Jones.
The Judge-era in New York was similar to Matt Patricia’s run with Detroit. Both men acting like they were the smartest in the room. They both lashed out at reporters during their respective tenures.
The Lions held onto Patricia for too long, the Giants did the right thing by removing Judge from his position. New York has an opportunity to give their fans a fresh start and begin to bring relevance back to the Giants organization.
