New report on why Malcolm Butler was benched for the Super Bowl against the Eagles
The NFL world is four days away from the biggest regular season game ever. Tom Brady returns to New England to face his old team, the Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick.
As the two teams prepare for their matchup, the Brady Week hype is going bonkers. News outlets have a different story everyday about the Brady versus Belichick matchup.
Malcolm Butler bombshell report
According to Seth Wickersham of ESPN, he details the reason why Malcolm Butler was benched for Super Bowl LII against the Eagles.
The Wickersham book will be coming out on Oct. 12th, titled “It’s Better to Be Feared”. In his book, he looks at the secretive and controversial Patriots organization.
According to an excerpt of the upcoming book it detailed the reason why Butler was benched in the Super Bowl.
Here’s what Wickersham wrote:
Eric Rowe would earn the start in Butler’s place for the biggest game of the season. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles torched the Patriots secondary throwing for 373 yards.
Butler played just one special teams snap in the Super Bowl after leading the team in defensive snaps all season.
New England would go onto lose the game 41-33, a game that the shouldn’t have lost to a backup quarterback. Brady set multiple Super Bowl records that night, throwing for 505 yards.
Conclusion
Butler was the hero for New England in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seahawks. The Super Bowl hero made the game winning interception with mere seconds left on the clock to secure the win.

Finally before fully casting an opinion, Patriots fans need all the facts. Wickersham’s new book helps shed some light on the story. It will be interesting to see it Butler comments on the report. Patriots fans sure as hell know Belichick will have nothing to say.
In the end, this report is a whopper of a story. Unfortunately if true, it’s an incredibly bad look for Patricia, Belichick and the Patriots. It helps paint the picture as to why Brady left for the sunny beaches of Florida.
