NC State Wolfpack Being Ousted From the NCAA College World Series… Sucks
The NC State baseball team was one win away from getting a chance to play for a national championship. The Wolfpack instead are out of the College World Series. On Friday, two players on NC State were ruled out of the CWS due to COVID-19 related issues.
The Wolfpack’s season came to an unfortunate ending in the early morning hours on Saturday. The NCAA announced that the 1 p.m. College World Series game between them and Vanderbilt had been ruled a no-contest.
NC State Reaction
Wolfpack right fielder Devonte Brown took to social media to voice is frustration on his team being removed from the College World Series.

“The NCAA and the committee regret that NC State’s student-athletes and coaching staff will not be able to continue in the championship in which they earned the right to participate,” the NCAA said in a statement.

NC State athletic director Boo Corrigan released a statement on Saturday regarding the situation. Corrigan commented that the last 24 hours have been “extremely difficult” for everyone involved.

Just days ago, the Wolfpack seemed destined for the College World Series’ best-of-three finale. Instead, the Wolfpack have been removed from the College World Series because of COVID-19 protocols.
Barstool’s Dave Portnoy Weighs In
Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports weighed in on the NC State situation and tweeted the NCAA “should be embarrassed.”

Portnoy has been a supporter of the NC State Wolfpack during their short College World Series run. El Presidente has been vocal on social media regarding the NC State situation since the beginning the COVID-19 issue surfaced on Friday.

This Sucks for NC State
Everyone is going to have their opinions on the NC State situation. In addition, people will have their opinions on whether or not everyone should have their vaccinations.
Whether or not someone has their vaccination or not is someone’s personal decision. I am not saying whether or not people should or shouldn’t, that is up to you. There has been full crowds at these games in Omaha. Fans are eating, drinking and cheering for their favorite college baseball teams.
The NCAA removing a team completely from the College World Series sucks, it sucks out loud. There has been a blueprint from almost every professional sports league in the country and in the world to handle COVID-19 regarding sports.
There has not been one professional sports team removed from the postseason in their respective leagues nor has a team forfeited games. The NCAA should have had a protocol in place other than the removal of a college baseball team from the tournament. So basically, this sucks for NC State and their CWS chances.
Conclusion
People will be divided on this topic because the COVID-19 pandemic has effected all of us in some way or another. The NCAA does have to look after the health and safety of their student-athletes. However, the NCAA makes millions and millions of dollars off their student-athletes and they don’t bat an eye cashing those checks.
The NCAA just ripped out the hearts and dreams of the NC State Wolfpack winning the CWS and that really sucks.
