NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Hopes Playoffs would Include Seven Game Series Every Round

The NBA had a conference call with the players yesterday to talk about plans for a potential return to the game. Commissioner Adam Silver is hoping for a seven-game playoff format for every round, but is that realistic?

The league has announced that a plan is in the works of a possible December timeframe start for the 2020-2021 season to finish the current season suspended due to COVID-19.  However, with everything that is happening around the world, finishing this suspension is going to be a struggle.

It has been close to two months since the last NBA game was played, and as of right now, the COVID-19 pandemic is still going strong. Resuming play will not be decided until June, and no one knows where this pandemic will stand by then.

The severe issue of this whole situation is that no one knows what is going to happen daily. It is disappointing to say, but everything that happens going forward is going to look extremely different.

I do not believe the playoff format is going to look normal as usual. The NBA will have to shorten those series, maybe even look into one game eliminations. It is a tough time right now in the world of sports, the usual playoff format you see year to year will be extremely different this season.
