My Top 5 Sabres Jerseys

Over the years, the Buffalo Sabres have had some great jerseys. With that being said, I decided to rank my top 5 jerseys in franchise history. I’ll tell you why I think the jersey itself is cool and the order will go 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Without further ado, let me give you my top 5 Buffalo Sabres jerseys.

5. 2018 Winter Classic Jersey

Oh baby these were really nice. To start the countdown are the Sabres 2018 Winter Classic jersey. These jerseys were EPIC. When I saw the team were wearing these, I was so excited. During this season, Buffalo didn’t have royal blue on their jerseys, so this was the first time in awhile we saw royal blue. My favorite part about this jersey was the shoulder patch, which you can see below. The striping is perfection and I thought it was cool that they added “NY” below the logo.

4. 2020-2021 Reverse Retro Jersey

Another jersey that was perfection was the reverse retro jerseys that were worn last season. I really wish these were the current road jerseys for the Sabres. I love the logo choice. It’s paying homage to the red jersey (spoiler alert), which you’ll see soon in this article and I love how it says “Buffalo” underneath the logo. The other reason why I love this jersey, the shoulder patch. The goat head or Buffalo head, whatever you want to call it, just makes this jersey so much cooler.

3. 2011 Alternate Jersey

This is the last jersey that involves royal blue. During the 2011 season, Buffalo unveiled their new alternate jersey. That season, it was the Sabres 40th anniversary. To pay tribute to their 40th season, they brought back a royal blue throwback. The logo itself gives me that vintage feeling, going back to the 70’s and 80’s. My favorite part of this jersey was the stitching. Just like the logo, it gives off those vintage jersey vibes. The color and the little stripes within the numbers, these are definitely an all time favorite of mine.

2. Early 2000’s Black Home Jersey

This is a favorite for every Sabres fan. This black jersey was introduced in 1996 when the Sabres moved into their new arena which is where they currently play now. Back in the 90’s, it was common teams would wear their white jerseys at home and their dark jerseys on the road. Even in the 70’s, 80’s and back then, this was the trend. However, as we entered the 2000’s, white jerseys were worn on the road and the dark jerseys were worn at home. Which leads me into this beauties. The shoulder patch was cool and the logo, which is known as the goat head, made this jersey a favorite of mine and a lot of Sabres fans. Supposedly, it’s rumored that the team will be bringing these bad boys back as their alternates for next season.

1. Early 2000’s Alternate Red Jersey

So here it is, my favorite Sabres jersey of all time are the red alternates worn by the team in the early 2000’s. I’m not sure what is about these jerseys but I personally loved how they were red. It was something different maybe? Just like the reverse retros earlier on, I love how it says “Buffalo” at the bottom. It brings me back to my childhood and honestly, I wouldn’t be mad if the team went back to black and red. It won’t happen anytime soon but these jerseys are my favorite and with them being red, that’s my favorite part about the jersey and that’s why they’re number 1 for my all time favorite Buffalo Sabres jersey.
