McAvoy Signs With Bruins
The long way is finally over and the Bruins have signed Charlie McAvoy to a new deal. The RFA market has been heating up in the NHL the past few days and McAvoy was the latest to reach a deal. He will be reporting to training camp with the Bruins either today or tomorrow.
The deal ends up shaking out to be 3 years at $4.9 million and he has a chance to earn up to $300K in bonuses. The Bruins have signed their big RFA and solidified their back end and top pairing for now but they still need to sign their other RFA Brandon Carlo. They have $3.2 million remaining in salary cap space after McAvoy’s deal. Let’s hope Sweeney can get crafty and work the salary cap.
McAvoy will return for his third full season with the Bruins and he’s been a blessing on that top pairing alongside Zdeno Chara. McAvoy has played 117 games for the Black and Gold registering 34 points. McAvoy is the future of the Bruins blueline and it’s great to see him locked up for the next few seasons.
