Matty Kiwoom’s Mock Draft Monday (On a Tuesday)

Hello and welcome to Matty Kiwoom’s Mock Draft Monday (on a Tuesday). My apologies for not posting my mock draft Monday article, well…on a Monday. But I spent the long weekend moving three rooms in our house. Super not fun but now my twins have their little room and mom and dad that the living room we wanted. Anywho, lets pick up where we left off and continue mock the first ten picks of the 2022 fantasy football rookie draft. Here are picks 1-5.

Peacemaker & Eagley select:

(remember I’m making up the team names)

The Spartan tail back put together a phenomenal 2021 campaign. Kenneth Walker ran for more than 1,600 yards and added 19 total touchdowns. He ran for more than 125 yards eight times in 12 games. Maybe the best pure running back in this class.

Walker will need to prove an ability to be a factor in an NFL passing game. He’ll have a chance soon at the NFL Combine. Walker does that and he could be one of the first two running backs taken this April. Imagine KW III toting the rock for Miami or Arizona.

Chicken and Beer select:

David Bell is has one of the largest range of outcomes. A mega producer that the analytics world loves yet there may be a growing narrative that the NFL is not in love with the wide receiver. I believe in the kid. If It wasn’t for a Covid shortened 2020, Bell would have put together with 3 seasons with 85 receptions, 1K receiving yards and 7 or more touchdowns.

Throughout the draft process, we will not know exactly how NFL franchises feel about the Purdue Boilermaker. As long as he isn’t a train wreck with his workout metrics Bell should receive significant draft capital.

You’re A Wizard N’Keal Harry! select:

George Pickens was once regarded as the most talented receiver in the class. Pickens is in the 96th percentile for Breakout Age. He had over 725 receiving yards as a freshman in the SEC. Due to a major knee injury, he missed most of 2021. But when he returned he made the most of it. Finishing with a 21.4 yards per reception.

The Georgia Bulldog has the ability to kill the combine and flash in his pro day. Pickens value could rocket into the first round if he exceeds expectations.

How I Met Your Mock Drafter select:

If it wasn’t for a late season ACL tear, the Bama product would be in contention to be the number one rated wide receiver in the 2022 class. Jameson Williams finished with 79 catches on 118 targets, 1,572 yards and 15 tuddies.

Despite the injury Williams is still being mocked as a first round pick in the NFL Draft. If he is selected later in the round number one, it is certainly possible it is to an elite offense. I.e. the Chiefs or the Bills.

MOCKS..ANNE, You Don’t Have to Put on the Red Light select

Tyler Allgeier is one of my favorite players in this rookie draft class. The dude is a tank. Five foot 11 and 220 pounds. Over the past two seasons, the Cougar ran for 2,731 yards and scored 36 touchdowns. Allgeier had a 35.8% Dominator Rating. That’s in the 84th percentile.

Get this…he claims that he will run a 4.40 or better this draft season. If he makes good on his word then the NFL will welcome him into the league. Not a perfect running back prospect by any means. But he does have an interesting bonus. He played linebacker so he can contribute to a special teams unit. Ensuring he will be on an opening day roster.

Conclusion

It is still early in the draft process, but it is never too early to start your fantasy football prep. There will be some very talented players entering the NFL this April. Team builds will ultimately decide who fantasy general manager will pick but at the top of the rookie draft there will be some good ones. I currently possess nine picks in the first two rounds in the Golden Pony Fantasy Football Experience and I’m thrilled.
