Matt Castle – 2020 Boston Marathon Runner
As a kid growing up in New England, I’ve always had a passion for athletics and the Boston Marathon. Every Marathon Monday I would watch thousands of runners run down Boylston street as they competed one of the most historic races in the world.
However, on April 20, 2020, I’ll no longer be a spectator. Instead, I’ll be running the 26.2 miles on behalf of the Boston Bruins foundation and I couldn’t be happier about it. I’ve always wanted to run in this historic race and to be able to do it through the Bruins organization just made all of the sense in the world.
For the past year and a half since graduating from Penn State, I’ve covered the team as a reporter and I’ve seen the foundation do amazing things for children all across New England.
The Boston Bruins Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists charitable organizations that demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children throughout New England.
The Foundation provides grants to organizations that meet the standards of its mission, concentrating on academics, athletics, community outreach and health. We believe that focusing and developing these four areas in children’s lives creates a solid foundation, strong support system and ultimately leads them to be an impactful member of their community.

In order to accomplish my goal I’ll need to train extremely hard over the next five months and will need to raise $10,000 for the Bruins foundation. Please consider donating on me behalf at my official fundraising page.
My mission is to make this world a better place and I truly believe that I can do that through the Boston Bruins foundation. I look forward to updating everyone on my training throughout the year and will be posting fundraising events on twitter (@Matt_Castle22) as well.
See you all at the finish line!
