Lock, Fade And Stay Away (7/30/20)

Lock:

New Orleans Pelicans -2

The NBA is finally back, and we have our first lock of the NBA restart. The Pelicans are taking on the Utah Jazz tonight in the season re-opener. In the Pelicans last three games against the Jazz they are 2-1 ATS, and are a two point favorite tonight. Before the shut down of the NBA the Pelicans were starting to find a groove. Now with the months to prepare, and looking at how great of shape Zion Williamson is tonight is a no brainer for me. Lock in the Pelicans at -2, as they look to try and lock in the eighth seed when the regular season is done.

Cincinnati Reds -114

The Cincinnati Reds have been very well talked about since the season started. Cincinnati looked real good in their season opener, lost four straight, and then beat the Cubs last night with a chance to split the series tonight. Tonight’s pitching matchup is Yu Darvish for Chicago going up against Luis Castillo for Cincinnati. Castillo looked good in his season debut, 6 IP 1 ER and added 11 strikeouts in a no decision. While Darvish pitched 4 innings while giving up three earned runs and striking out five in a losing effort against Milwaukee. In their last ten matchups its been down the middle at five wins a piece. I am locking in Cincinnati, due to the fact that I think Castillo pitches really well tonight.

Fade:

Los Angeles Angels -210

The Los Angeles Angels have been so inconsistent this season. Sitting at a 2-4 record so far this season, and have split the series against Seattle so far. The Angels are a heavy favorite tonight at -210, and I will be fading them and here is why. First reason is that the Angels are 2-7 straight up in their last nine games. Second reason is that Dylan Bundy pitched very well in his season debut against Oakland (6.2 IP 1 ER 7 K’s) and he has won his last three decisions. I think he is due to pitch a loss and tonight is going to be that night. We saw the Mariners offense last night look really well, and we should see more of the same tonight. Fade the Angels and don’t risk a high amount to win a little amount back.

Stay Away:

Under 7.5 (San Diego vs San Francisco)

The Padres and the Giants have played a very interesting series so far. Both teams have a win a piece, and both games have been very exciting to say the least. Here is a stat that I am doing the opposite of tonight, and that is that in San Diego’s last five games the under has hit four times. Now for San Francisco in their last six games, the under has hit four times. So I am looking to stay away from the under tonight due to the fact that both offenses looked great last night, and I think the Giants pitching staff struggles tremendously tonight. Look for the over and stay away from the under.
