Lock:
Oklahoma State +3.5 (2.2u/2u)
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are set to take on Marquette today’s battle of Power Five conference teams. Oklahoma State is led by talented freshman Cade Cunnigham. With the Cowboys not being eligible for the NCAA tournament, they will be leaving everything on the floor in the regular season. Marquette also lost a lot from their team a season ago. They lose Markus Howard who was big for that team during his tenure at Marquette. The Golden Eagles do bring in DJ Carton a transfer from Ohio State, and Dawson Garcia (49th in ESPN’s Top 100).
I just think Marquette is going to take a step back this season, and with both teams playing a power five team for the first time I think I am going to give the advantage to the Cowboys. Lock in Oklahoma State at +3.5 as I am risking 2.2 units to make 2 units in this one.
Fade:
Duke -3.5
The Duke Blue Devils get ready to take on Michigan State tonight in game one of the Champions Classic. Duke lost a lot from their team last year including Vernon Carey Jr. and Tre Jones. They did bring a lot in when it comes to freshman such names include Jalen Johnson, Jeremy Roach, D.J. Steward, Mark Williams and Jaemyn Brakefield. Duke also brings back Wendell Moore and Matthew Hurt from last year’s team and I think that was important for them.
Hurt is going to take a huge step forward this season, and Moore is going to contribute a lot more. My issue with them tonight is that they play a Michigan State team that has some experience playing together. Guys like Rocket Watts and Joshua Langford are going to be big time in this top ten matchup tonight. I see Michigan State winning outright or this coming down to only one possession. With that being said I am fading the Duke Blue Devils tonight.
Stay Away:
Over 129.5 (St. Francis vs Virginia)
Virginia is back on the trend of we aren’t going to score a lot and we won’t give up a lot type of game. I for one am not a fan of this trend, because the last thing we want to root for is an under when it is as low as 129.5. Virginia is playing St. Francis who already beat their fellow conference member in Pittsburgh. Now this game is going to be a snooze fest as both sides aren’t going to score efficient enough for this over to even be thought about. You should stay far far away from the over in this one.
