Like Him or Not, the New England Patriots Should Act More Like Julian Edelman
The Patriots this season have been…well, they haven’t been their usual Patriot selves. We all know the drama this off-season with Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Bill Belichick, etc. They are currently 10-5 going into tomorrow’s season finale against the Jets at Gillette Stadium. If there is one person the Patriots can learn a lesson from, it is wide receiver Julian Edelman.
Edelman is that prototypical small wide receiver that Patriots fans have fallen in love with over the years. However, he was flagged for three unnecessary roughness penalties this past Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

So as you can see, the fines are not exactly cheap in any way, shape or form. But you know what? GOOD! Let Julian Edelman get a few penalties for playing the game in a physical manner. Edelman is the perfect candidate to light a fire in this team’s belly going into the playoffs.
Edelman in 11 games this season has 69 receptions for 781 yards and five touchdowns. He has shown he is recovering nicely from his torn ACL injury that cost him his entire 2017 season. He has become Tom Brady’s most reliable and consistent target since he arrived with the Patriots in 2009.
Now, am I saying I will like it if Julian Edelman makes a stupid play to cost the Patriots a game in the playoffs? ABSOLUTELY not! But, if he has to resort to having the refs throw the yellow flag a few times to get the Patriots to play with some fire heading into January, then so be it!
We’ll see how Julian Edelman responds on Sunday against the Jets. Something tells me this fine really isn’t going to bother him too much.
