Kyrie Irving to Have Small Procedure on Knee

Well ladies and gents, it’s the news we’ve all been dreading to hear. Kyrie Irving will be undergoing a small procedure tomorrow that should help alleviate the pain in his knee. I don’t want to sound like that guy, but I saw this coming from a mile away, and it’s the right move.

His timetable for a return is currently up in the air, but you have to guess that a knee surgery will hold him out for at the very least a couple of weeks. So there’s a pretty decent chance that he isn’t back for the start of the post-season, which automatically spells disaster for the Celtics playoff hopes. A probable starting lineup of Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris, and Al Horford might be good enough to get you out of the first round, but after that who really knows. Injuries have plagued this season and there’s not a whole lot you can do about that.

So why is this the right move? Without Gordon Hayward, I don’t think this team ever had a realistic shot of winning the Finals this season. And with those being the circumstances, Kyrie shouldn’t have to risk the future health of the knee to probably get knocked out in the Eastern Conference Finals. Just get everyone healthy, re-load, and come back again next year. This team is built for the future, don’t ruin it.
