Kevin Garnett To Have Number Retired In T.D. Garden Rafters
The Kevin Garnett Celtics days were a lot of fun, weren’t they? When Garnett first came over in July of 2007, people were excited and rightfully so. This was going to be a game changing move. Garnett excelled in Boston and now, he’s getting the proper respect he deserves. K.G.’s legendary number 5 is going to be retired in the T.D. Garden rafters next season.

Let’s look back at K.G.’s Celtics career for a quick second.
The Boston Numbers
Kevin Garnett was a force with the Celtics. He averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks per game. He made five All-Star teams in six seasons with the Celtics. The man dominated more often than not in his Celtics tenure. Not to mention, his turn around jump shot was one of the best parts of his game. Boston was extremely lucky to have K.G. when he was here.
The Championship
Garnett was a huge part of the 2008 championship team. Honestly, the Celtics don’t win the 2008 championship without K.G. in the fold. Yes, Ray Allen was a solid veteran piece to help the rebuild. But, Garnett made the rebuild complete. Imagine if he didn’t get hurt in 2009? The Celtics could have won back to back titles. Oh, what could have been!
The Passion
Nobody could argue that Garnett was the most passionate player on the floor. He had his pregame routine and it was legendary. From the head banging, to the fist pump to the chest, to pointing up in the rafters, it was all amazing. Also, who could forget that legendary yell?

We will always love K.G. for the passion he brought to the Celtics.

This is rightfully deserved. K.G. loves Boston and Boston loves K.G. right back. It will be a fun night when Garnett returns to the Garden and sees his number raised into the rafters. Maybe, we’ll even get to hear that legendary scream one last time!
