The idea of Kelly Olynyk being a dirty player is comical. The recent incident with Kelly Oubre has sparked the discussion, and people who say he’s dirty need to stop and look at this guy for just a second. Look at the way he looks, walks, talks, acts. HE’S A GOOF. He has been the clumsiest person on the Celtics since being drafted, and I honestly can’t recall anyone who has been clumsier.
So what has he actually done to deserve being called a “dirty player”? He’s only committed three technical fouls in his career to go along with zero ejections, and zero flagrant fouls. Not to mention the only “dirty play” he has ever been involved in was the Kevin Love incident two years ago, and there’s no way that was done on purpose. They were fighting for a loose ball and a freak thing happened, and this happens quite often. Not necessarily to the degree of Kevin Love’s arm being taken out of it’s socket, but it still happens. Basketball is a physical game, and people tend to forget that.
Now what REALLY gets me, is when Draymond Green, the king of dirty plays, comes out and starts taking shots at Olynyk. On his podcast, Green said “He’s dirty, a dirty player. I don’t respect guys like that.” You’ve got to be kidding me, right? Just watch this video and you’ll understand why this is so funny to me:
How is the dirtiest player in the NBA going to say another player is dirty? Look in the mirror and own up to what YOU have done before you go around accusing other guys of being “dirty”. This whole thing is so dumb that it actually hurts my brain.
