Julian Edelman OUT For The Season With Torn ACL

There it is. It’s been confirmed. The MRI results this morning confirmed that our worst fears here in New England are coming in guns blazing. Julian Edelman is out for the season with a torn ACL.

I don’t know if you watched last night, but it was one of those things that the moment it happened, you knew. He was cooked. Say goodbye to the flying squirrel.

BUT, on the other hand, the Patriots always talk about “next man up”. It’s hilarious because do you know who the next man up is, I guess? Brandon frigen Cooks. Being a Patriots fan is wild. Imagine if they never made that move to go after Cooks this offseason? A move that put the Patriots from the Super Bowl favorites to the, “Okay now they might go 19-0” Super Bowl favorites.

But this makes me wonder if undrafted rookie, Austin Carr, may be getting his chance with this injury to Jules. The kid has shown quickness, an ability to make the athletic play, and a desire to grind and make the squad.

And when it comes down to it, yeah, I love everything about Julian Edelman. He’s the definition of a New England Patriot, but he isn’t going to make or break this team’s chances at winning their 3rd championship in four years, right? I mean, if they were able to push through the Gronk injury last season, they can certainly make it through this.
