John Ross’s 40-Yard-Dash Record Is About To Go Down
With the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine officially underway, all 32 NFL teams are getting ready to evaluate prospects from around the United States. Teams want to determine whether or not players would be a fit for their respective ball club, and to help that process the NFL has future draftees run around, doing drills in spandex.
The combine has various drills- like bench press, broad jump, and the 3-cone drill- but the most anticipated (for fans mostly) is always the 40-yard-dash. As it currently stands, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross holds the combine’s record by reaching the 40 yard mark in just 4.22 seconds. But like I said, that is how it CURRENTLY stands.
In 2020, Ross’s record is going down. Don’t believe me? Well, this years draft class has two very fast wide receivers in Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III and TCU’s Jalen Reagor. If you click on the links attached to their names, you can see that both receivers plan on beating Ross’s mark. You can shake your head at their confidence, but you shouldn’t if you have seen these guys run.
Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy
First off, you have Ruggs who makes fellow top wideout prospect Jerry Jeudy look slow in a race on the track.
The Bama wide receivers took on the DBs in a 4×100….and Henry Ruggs ended things quick 😂🔥 @__RUGGS @jerryjeudy @AlabamaFTBL

TCU’s Jalen Reagor
Then we have Reagor, who can burn cornerbacks faster than the sun does my pasty skin on a hot summer day.
Jalen Reagor – WR, TCU
Explosive, twitchy & dynamic receiver. Separates really well & dangerous with the ball in his hands.
With the way he runs, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets close to John Ross’s 4.22 at the combine.#bengals pic.twitter.com/p4NnJSQjpa

Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III
4.22 is definitely fast, but right now I have my money on one of these two to reach the top spot. I mean, seriously, look at this!

So if I were you, I’d be ready to see some really low 40 numbers when the wide receiver prospects hit the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday.
