Joe Burrow is Already a Really Good NFL Quarterback
It may only be four weeks into his career, but Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is already an awesome NFL quarterback.
Yesterday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Burrow and the Bengals (1-2-1) notched their first win of the season, and the first of Burrow’s career. But despite the fact that this was Burrow’s first win, he has led Cincinnati to three possible wins right out the gate.
First, you had week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Burrow set the Bengals up for a game-tying field goal with seconds left in the fourth. Unfortunately kicker Randy Bullock missed the kick, and we were never able to see if Cincy could squeak out a victory.
Some unreal endings today. First in Detroit and now in Cincinnati. Randy Bullock missed a 31-yard game-tying FG and the #Chargers hold on to win 16-13. pic.twitter.com/EVif8xocNH

Second, Burrow paced the Bengals offense in week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles despite being sacked 8 times in the game. The 2020 number one overall pick finished the game the game 31-44, with 312 yards and two touchdowns. However, the game did end in a tie, thanks to some horrible 2-minute defense by the Bengals at the end of both the second and fourth quarter of the game.
Finally, you have yesterday, where Burrow and Bengals running back Joe Mixon finally led the Bengals to their first win of the season.

And no, I am not saying the Bengals should be 3-1, but the point is that Burrow already looks the part of a franchise quarterback. The former LSU Tiger has missed some throws, but he has really only made one “bad” mistake with the interception he threw in the aforementioned game against the Chargers.

Other than that, there really hasn’t been much to nitpick. The only other thing that should be mentioned is the lack of big chunk pass plays, but as the year has gone on, Cincinnati’s offense has seemed to get a little more in-sync in that department. I mean, if Cethan Carter is starting to catch passes of 20+ yards, you know better times are ahead.
An old RSP favorite, Cethan Carter has managed to hang onto a roster spot of a few years. Nice catch on intermediate cross #Bengals

Needless to say, Burrow is legit. Through the first three weeks of the season, Pro Football Focus had Burrow ranked as the number 12 overall quarterback in the league. That is ahead of names like Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, and DeShaun Watson.
And with no real training camp under his belt, it makes what Burrow is doing even more impressive. He definitely looks like he will be successful in the league for a long, long time.
