Jackie Robinson Day: The Celebration Goes On
On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson stepped across the foul line in a Brooklyn Dodgers uniform to become the first black player in Major League Baseball in the modern era. He went on to win the very first Rookie of the Year award that season. Beginning on April 15, 2004, all players, coaches, and umpires in the MLB would wear number 42 with no name on the back of their jersey. Today, April 15 is now Jackie Robinson Day. It is a day to honor Robinson and what he meant to not only the game of baseball, but to the American public as well.

Final Thoughts
In conclusion, today is a day to honor a great man and his family in the game of baseball. Even without baseball, the celebration must go on and I am very happy to see the MLB do their part. Robinson is more than just a baseball player, he was an American hero and civil rights leader. His accomplishments on and off the field will continue to be a part of our game and our world.
