J.D. Martinez Drops Hint Of Future With The Red Sox
Red Sox fans have grown to love J.D. Martinez. Honestly, how could they not? Last season, the outfielder/DH hit for an astonishing .330 average, while also hitting for 43 homeruns and 130 RBI’s. So far in 2019, he’s hitting .304 with 18 homeruns and 48 RBI’s. He is down in Cleveland for the 2019 All-Star Game and he had a few things to say about his future with the Red Sox.
J.D. Martinez gave little clarity to his future with the #RedSox, and tells us where he wants to end up.

Here are a few key takeaways from Martinez’s comments.
He WANTS To Stay In Boston
Martinez came out and said he loves the Red Sox. He loves his teammates, the organization, and the fans. The Red Sox have been his favorite team since he was a kid. So the bottom line from this tidbit is simple: he WANTS to be here for the long-term.
He Understands The MLB Is A Business
While Martinez was high on praise for the Red Sox, he also said he understood that it’s business at the end of the day. This is the tough part for some players to swallow. Is it likely J.D. spends the rest of his career in Boston? Probably not. But, would it upset fans if the Red Sox kept Martinez for the rest of his career? Again, probably not.
In Conclusion
Martinez wants to be here. The Red Sox like having him here. What are we missing here? Again, I understand that the MLB is a business and you cannot get too attached to players on a certain team. But, J.D. Martinez wants to be here long term, so let’s keep him here if we can. Hitters like him do not come around everyday.
