It’s Time to Go to War

Today’s the day. Game 7. Celtics/Raptors. It’s only fitting that this series between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conferences goes seven games. Although I’ve changed my prediction from seven games to five after Boston went up 2-0, it’s not shocking that we’ve made it this far.

Let’s ignore the heartbreaking losses and all of the calls that we either didn’t receive or go our way. Those games don’t matter now. What matters is game seven, and the players have to be as focused as ever for tonight.

This isn’t the first go-around for these guys when it comes to game sevens. Throughout Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum’s time in Boston, they’ve competed in two game 7’s, and we can’t fail to mention their supporting cast has been there too. Even Kemba Walker made it to a game seven during his time in Charlotte.

These guys have had their ups and downs in this series. We’ve seen Tatum score over 30 points against Toronto, but we’ve also seen him shoot 5-18 from the field in a one-point loss. We’ve seen Marcus Smart hit six threes in the fourth quarter to help lead Boston to a victory, but we’ve also seen him go cold and miss almost every three he took.

Those performances mean nothing now. What matters is how this team comes out in game seven and how they react to some questionable calls that might be in Toronto’s favor. This game will be be a battle, a war even, and the Celtics need to be ready to fight as hard as possible. They’re going to take a few punches, but they need to throw more punches back.

Last Game 7

The last time Jaylen Brown was in a game seven, he finished with 13 points on 5-18 shooting (3-12 from three). We can’t see that Jaylen Brown tonight. The fans need to see the warrior that Jaylen Brown is to come out tonight. We need the Jays to have the biggest games of their careers if they want to make it back to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Celtics fans need Cardiac Kemba to show everybody why he signed with Boston in the offseason. We can’t expect Boston to come out victorious if Kemba is only scoring five points. There has to be stepbacks. We need threes that will bring the fans to their feet. We need Kemba Walker to be Kemba Walker.

This game is going to be a bloodbath. Both these teams have something to prove and do not want to go home ahead of a possible ECF matchup with the Miami Heat. Both teams realize what’s on the line tonight and won’t stop until they get it. Boston just has to want it more.

To say I’m stressed is an understatement. To say my anxiety is at an all-time high is an understatement. It’s aggravating that Boston couldn’t get the job done sooner, but as I said earlier, those games don’t matter now. This is now a best-of-one series, and it’s win or go home.

It’s time for the boys to show up and get the job done. This is the perfect opportunity for the Celtics to get past the defending champs, take on the Heat, and make it to the NBA Finals.

Finally…

This is Game 7.  It’s for all the marbles. This is war. This is where legends are made. Let’s go out there and make a statement. LFG Celtics.
