It Might Be Time For The Celtics To Say GOODBYE To Kyrie Irving
I really hated writing that title. It rotted me to the core. But, it might be time to admit it. It might be time for the Celtics to say goodbye to Kyrie Irving.
The Celtics took on the Bucks last night (as I was unfortunately at the game, humble brag) and Kyrie once again disappointed. The Celtics lost and now face a 3-1 series deficit.

Of course, with every loss; the question of will Kyrie Irving leave shines a whole lot brighter. If that was the last game that Kyrie plays at the T.D. Garden as a Celtic, then WOW was he disappointing! Where do I even begin?
The defense?
No one can cover Giannis.
Kyrie Irving DEFINITELY cannot cover Giannis pic.twitter.com/Atq99qnOji

The shooting percentage?
Kyrie Irving’s shooting percentages over the last three games:
Game 2: 22.2 FG% (20% 3PT)
Game 3: 36.4 FG% (25% 3PT)
Game 4: 31.8 FG% (14.3% 3PT)— Dante Turo (@DanteOnDeck) May 7, 2019
The attitude after the game?
Great stuff! Now let’s get game 4 https://t.co/NLDhOX2Lho

It just doesn’t seem like Kyrie cares about being in Boston anymore. He had multiple times with the media where his answers seemed suspect. We all thought after the blowout in Golden State that Kyrie and his teammates were starting to come together more. It’s just not the same feeling of Celtics basketball that we have seen over the past few years in the Brad Stevens era.
What Do I Think About Kyrie?
If/when the Celtics lose, he is done, finished, stick a fork in ’em. He will certainly leave and probably go to the Knicks. I hate to see Kyrie go because of the talent that he has showed. But, it just doesn’t seem like he is the right fit for Boston in more ways than one. I could be wrong and I hope I am wrong. But right now, things do not look good.
In Conclusion
Maybe the Celtics need something new, something fresh to go forward with to compete for championships. Everybody thought this is the year, this is the season it all comes together. It hasn’t happened. Maybe you come up with an alternative plan for if/when Kyrie leaves? Anyone?
So I’m down to build around Tatum and Brown….sign Rozier or Kemba and try to bring in another FA to play with Hayward. #Celtics and Kyrie might be done

Honestly, if it’ll work then what the hell? Let’s get crazy! I hate to say it, but I have to; Kyrie Irving probably played his last T.D. Garden game wearing a Boston Celtics uniform.
(Disclaimer: If the Celtics come back and win this series somehow, I take this all back. Go Celtics!)
