Is The MLB Hot Stove Heating Up? MLB Offseason Trades and Signings
The first full week of December is showing some life with the Major League Baseball offseason. We are now seeing some moves being made. I will discuss some of the major moves that have happened over the last week. Also, I have a rant to go on. I will do that during the recording tonight of Legends Lingo. Give it a listen when it comes out.
Carlos Santana
First baseman Carlos Santana and the Kansas City Royals are in agreement on a two-year, $17 million deal, sources confirm to ESPN. Royals had been heavy in the first base market and get a veteran with power and on-base skills. @JonHeyman was first on the deal.

This is some breaking news as I write this article. Carlos Santana is going to sign a 2 year $17 million deal with the Royals. Santana came up as a top prospect and everyone was excited for him. He has been very constant over his career. Santana has been known as a on base and power bat. He has spent every season but 1 with the Indians. Santana has had an OBP over 0.349 and over 19 homeruns every season in his career. His strikeout to walk ratio is close to 1:1. That shows he will get on base and hit the long ball when his time comes. This is a good add for the Royals.
Trevor May
Trevor May signed a 2 year $15.5 million deal with the New York Mets. This is a good signing for the Mets. Steve Cohen means business with getting great players for the Mets. Trevor May comes from Twins where he spent all 6 seasons of his career. Ever since missing 2017 with an injury May has had under a 3.90 ERA. In 2019 May had a 2.94 in a career high 65 appearances. The Mets wants to have a very strong bullpen and this helps that.
Raisel Iglesias
The Angels traded for Raisel Iglesias with the Reds. The Angels sent back Noe Ramirez to the Reds. The biggest need the Angels have is pitching. They have the best player in the world in Mike Trout, but they have not been signing pitching lately. From 2017-2019 Iglesias had 92 saves for the Reds. A career 1.122 WHIP in 6 season is good for a reliever. He is only allowing just over 1 runner per inning he pitches.
Adam Eaton
Outfielder Adam Eaton and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $7 million deal that includes a club option for 2022, sources tell ESPN. The White Sox have their right fielder, pending physical, and it's an old friend. On the news first: @ChuckGarfien.

Another signing that happened today. Adam Eaton is returning to the White Sox on a 1 year deal after spending 4 seasons with the Nationals. Eaton is an on base guy. Having a career OBP of 0.360 is pretty good for a guy in today’s game. Eaton spent 2014-2016 with the White Sox, hitting 0.290 with an OBP of 0.783. He will be a good top of the order player for the White Sox.
Lance Lynn
Right-hander Lance Lynn has been traded to the Chicago White Sox, sources tell ESPN.
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) December 8, 2020
Late last night the White Sox made a BIG trade. They traded Dane Dunning (their #5 pitching prospect) to the Rangers for veteran right hander Lance Lynn. This just makes the White Sox rotation even better. Lynn will most likely be the #2 or #3 in the rotation behind Lucas Giolito and Dallas Keuchel. Also top prospect Michael Kopech is throwing again after surgery. The White Sox made the playoffs in 2020 and are only getting better. In the 2 seasons Lynn spent in Texas he was a high inning high strikeout pitcher. He lead the league in starts and innings in 2020 and had over 200 innings in 2019.
Wrap Up
In the past week there seems to be a heating up of the MLB offseason. The White Sox have been getting better with some big time moves. Also I have something about baseball to get off my chest. Give a listen to Legends Lingo. Be on the look out for my outbreak pitchers coming next week unless a lot of moves are made.
