Introducing the Buffalo Sabres 2020 Draft Class
Round 1 (8th overall)
Jack Quinn (Right Wing)

With the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres select Jack Quinn. Listening to experts, the Sabres got the best goal scorer in the draft. While playing for the Ottawa 67’s (OHL), Quinn had great numbers during the 2020 season. In 62 games played, he scored 52 goals and registered 37 assists, adding up to 89 points. I like this pick for the Sabres. Even though a majority of the fanbase wanted Marco Rossi, I think Quinn will be a solid player for the organization. In his scouting report, it says, “He’s always manipulating opposing defencemen as a puck-carrier, baiting a response, and then threading the puck through the opening this sequence created. Quinn can get a ten-bell shot off on either foot, and he deploys a wide array of release points to ensure that the puck gets through any manner of situations.”
Round 2 (34th overall)
John-Jason Peterka (Right Wing)

In his scouting report, it states, “His unrelenting motor is a force multiplier in every zone. He’s hard on every puck. He’s an eager, willing combatant in board battles. He’s violent, disruptive, a real pain in the ass. He’ll make second and third efforts where other players generally relent. He’s rarely, if ever stationary, constantly scanning the ice when the puck isn’t on his stick.” According to Die By The Blade, Peterka only registered 11 points in 42 games played with EHC Munchen (DEL), scoring only seven goals and getting four assists. For a 17 year old playing in a men’s league, those are hard numbers to put up.
Round 5 (130th overall)
Matteo Constantine (Center)
We have selected Matteo Costantini with the 131st overall pick.

Stats with Princeton High School (2018-2019 season):
0 goals, 1 assist
Round 7 (192nd overall)
Albert Lyckasen (Defenseman)

Scouting report: “He’s got great edge work and four-way mobility. He wants the puck on his stick. He wants to lead the puck up-ice. He wants to quarterback the power play. He wants the puck back as soon as his team has lost possession. And he plays like it. He’s got such a great gravitational pull with the puck, which creates so much extra space for his teammates every time he’s on the ice.” According to The Hockey Writers, Lyckasen scored 14 goals and registered 22 assists (36 points) with Linköping of the Swedish U20 SuperElit league. He is also described as a puck moving defenseman.
Round 7 (215th overall)
Jakub Konecny (Left Wing)
With our last pick of the 2020 #NHLDraft, we welcome Jakub Konecny to the Sabres! #NHLDraft | #LetsGoBuffalo pic.twitter.com/huwaTXD2P0

According to WGR 550, the Sabres drafted left winger Jakub Konecny with their final pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. In Praha Slavia (Czech) junior program, scoring four goals and got nine assists (13 points) last season.
Overall, I think the Sabres had a pretty good draft. With that being said, they will look to improve the team in free agency which begins on Friday.
