Patriots vs Broncos Moved to Monday Night
The New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos are up against each other this week. Due to the addition of Stephon Gilmore testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, the Patriots game will be pushed off until Monday night. The hope is that no more players on the Patriots test positive and the team can resume practices tomorrow. The team has been working remotely since Tuesday. Mike Klis, a reporter for 9News out of Denver, broke the news.

Flashback to Lask Week
This will be the second week in a row that the Patriots game has been moved due to COVID concerns. It’s good to see the NFL take a slightly more proactive approach this time around. Slightly because they didn’t wait until the last possible second to change the game around. I still don’t think it’s a smart idea to play, given the report of the NFL denying the Patriots more locker room space. The Patriots took every precaution they could to continue with playing the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday night. They took 2 planes to minimize any risk of a more widespread outbreak. They couldn’t properly distance inside the KC locker room and the NFL declined their request. The Patriots were doing everything possible to comply with COVID safety protocols. If the report is accurate, this is not the best look for the league.
What I Think Should Happen
I think that the NFL did take a better approach to this game, barely. However, I do think it might be in the leagues best interest to figure out a way to completely reschedule this week’s matchup. If the Patriots were able to not play this week, and make up the game at a later date if at all possible, it would make the most sense. The Patriots enter their bye week following the game. That would give the Patriots the proper 2 weeks, as recommended by the CDC, away from everyone. The extra time will allow the Patriots to assess how widespread their outbreak is. The team could go forward more appropriately within the NFL’s protocols after 2 weeks away from the team’s facilities.
