Listen, let’s not beat around the bush here. Our country is a very scary place to live in right now. An innocent man who told a police officer “I can’t breathe” ended up dead. Now, we’re seeing a lot of people angry and frustrated with what’s going on in the world. Rightfully so. But I’ll get into that later on in this piece. Right now, we’re going to focus on the Boston Celtics. Why? Because several of the Celtics players are doing their part to help in these times.
Celtics guard Jaylen Brown led a peaceful protest march through Atlanta on Saturday night after driving 15 hours from Boston. https://t.co/6FizByTAAT

I don’t think people realize just how smart of a man Jaylen Brown really is. Now I know what you’re thinking, “Al you idiot, it doesn’t take a smart person to protest peacefully and walk for a cause.” and you’re right. I get that. But what I’m saying is that we see a lot of Jaylen Brown on the court. We don’t necessarily see his actions off of it. This man drove 15 hours, from Boston to his hometown of Atlanta, to lead a peaceful protest. Brown is showing us that you can lead a rally, nonviolently, and make a point. Well done, Jaylen Brown!
Enes Kanter chanted "I can't breathe" with protesters in Boston.

Enes Kanter has always been active with his voice regarding politics. He’s been very vocal about the Turkish government and how he hasn’t seen his family in years because of it. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Kanter made an appearance in Boston during the protests. Kanter continues to show how much he loves being in the city of Boston day by day. If you don’t like this guy by now, then I don’t know what to tell you. Kanter understands the significance of this all. So it was good to see the big man out there with his fellow people.
Marcus Smart and Vincent Poirier
Marcus Smart and Vincent Poirier were two other Celtics out on the streets of Boston peacefully protesting. It just goes to show how committed this Celtics team is to the community. When you can join these types of protests peacefully and make an impact, you know you’re doing something right. Another job well done by two more Celtics players!

The Celtics hit this statement dead on. Everyone deserves equality, understanding, and respect. The same rights and same opportunities? Absolutely! They’re angry, just a like a lot of other people are with this situation. Again, well done by the Celtics organization.
My Official Thoughts On This
We’ll touch on this on Legends Lingo later this week and I’m sure Nick and Jared will do the same on CGS podcast. My thoughts on the situation are as follows. George Floyd’s death was unruly, unjust, and just despicable. Derek Chauvin deserves everything he’s getting and more down the line. On a personal level, I hate to see the violence and destruction going on in our country. Peaceful protests and freedom of speech is a great asset. But when it gets violent, it becomes harmful to us as a nation.
Shoutout to the Celtics organization for taking a stand and joining the protests. This is a weird and frustrating situation we are in currently. It’s good to see the Boston athletes trying to make a difference. When you think of the Celtics in the future, remember that this is an example of what they can do for their community. Lives matter in this situation and in general. We need a drastic change and we need it quickly. #BlackLivesMatter
