Here’s The LATEST Patriots News and Notes You Need To Know
The Patriots regular season is less than two weeks away now. This is the point where the final cuts and roster moves need to be made. New England has some tough choices on their hands for these last few moves. They’ve already made a few in the past couple of days. There’s also some news on a few Patriots veterans as well. Let’s take a brief look at some of the latest Patriots news and notes.
Mike Pennel Gets Released
News story: Patriots inform DT Mike Pennel, one of their top free-agent signings in the offseason, that they are releasing him. https://t.co/fN3DXRW7na

This one is a surprise, considering Pennel was a top free agent signing for the Patriots. The simple answer is that Pennel didn’t wow the Patriots coaching staff. There is already enough defensive tackle depth with Lawrence Guy, Danny Shelton, and others. Will this be a devastating move going forward? Absolutely not. It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter what the Patriots do with you. You can be gone in an instant if you don’t perform.
Josh Gordon Is Practicing In FULL PADS!
News story: Patriots WR Josh Gordon removed from non-football injury list, now eligible to play in Sept. 8 season opener. https://t.co/IQ4U6yta9M
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 25, 2019
We have Josh Gordon practicing! I repeat, WE HAVE JOSH GORDON PRACTICING!! Gordon has been taken off the NFI list and is now practicing. The best part is that he’s eligible for the September 8th home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The wide receiver suddenly gives the Patriots more wide receiver depth. It was seriously lacking just a few months ago. I love Josh Gordon being back on the practice field. I’m sure a lot of you feel the exact same way.
Patrick Chung Latest
News story (via @AP): Patriots safety Patrick Chung waives a court appearance in NH on a cocaine-possession charge, and a lawyer enters a not-guilty plea on his behalf. Chung is now scheduled for a Nov. 8 court appearance. https://t.co/R2Exkqv9UZ
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 26, 2019
Mike Reiss basically says it all right here. Chung, not surprisingly, plead not guilty to the cocaine charge against him. The court date for Chung is now November 8th, which comes after the Baltimore game on the road. Hopefully, this all gets dropped very soon. Chung’s teammates love him and wish him nothing but the best. We’ll keep you updated with this situation as more details continue to unfold.
In Conclusion
This is just another week for the Patriots. There are always moves going on, left and right. We’ll see what surprise moves and transactions come up with one week left in the preseason. Will there be a surprise? Could we see another player similar to Ryan Allen being cut? That’s why you’ll have to stay tuned. Opening night is so close to being here, I can practically taste it!
