Gobert, Gobert, Please Just Wash Your Hands!

What a horrible past 3 weeks it has been for the whole world amid the Coronavirus outbreak. While a pandemic is one you can’t predict to happen, this is one with all the making of a potential nightmare one would want to wake up from right about now, especially if you are a huge sports-fan like myself! What the hell do we do for however long these bans and suspensions maybe in for? I was already so excited about the Players’ Championship tournament. For the first year, I even had really great picks in Matsuyama, Schauffele, Rahm, Cantlay and Webb Simpson! Dang you Coronavirus!

But! Enough of my rant, let’s talk about the NBA and the outbreak in less than 24 hours after a careless mistake that domino’d from there over! Imagine being in the shoes of Rudy Gobert! I call that he wins DPOY! LOL, single handedly prevented the whole NBA from carrying on with their season with just the touch of a few mics! Seriously though, imagine being him and not even knowing you had contracted a virus, let alone that by the act of what was supposed to be just a joke, a whole league was exposed to danger.

I personally feel horrible for the guy. We have all made mistakes without even knowing we had made a gigantic one afterwards. After having issued an apology statement, Rudy Gobert announced today his donation of $500K to support the employee relief fund at the Vivint Smart Home Arena and also to the COVID-related social services relief in Utah, Oklahoma City and the French health care system.

Thankfully for Gobert, some good light is starting to shed around. First, with teammate Donovan Mitchell, reporting he was “feeling fine” on Saturday night in his first public appearance from self-isolation. Also, let’s add that the Boston Celtics have been tested for the virus. Thankfully, there’s no issues nor presumptive cases reported for the Celtics nor the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I personally think the NBA will be back in action in a week and a half from now. Surely, I hope it is a lot earlier than that. In the meantime, remember to wash your hands!! But seriously, wash your hands, be safe and join me in hoping this epidemic is over soon.
