Frazier Is Free

If you ever want to know why the Yankees have not won a title since ’09 and won’t win another one in the foreseeable future, it’s because they have no idea how to get out of their own way. Once again, they let a player, a future all-star walk away for nothing in return. All so they could hold onto their roid raged, mega mind looking .222 hitting outfielder Brett Gardner because….well, no idea why.

Clint Frazier

The player I’m talking about is Clint Frazier. If you have no idea who he is, he was the player acquired by the Yankees from Cleveland in exchange for Andrew Miller back in 2016. At the time, Frazier was one of the best prospects in baseball and was an excellent return for the Yankees. Too bad they have no idea how to capitalize on it. The Yankees never allowed Frazier to play in more than 69 games during his 5-year stint in the Bronx. During his time there, and when he got the opportunities to play, Frazier put together a stat line of .239 with 29 home runs, an OPS of .761, and an OBP of .327.

You may look at that and say that that’s not that impressive, and you wouldn’t be wrong. My rebuttal for that would be simple, and he hasn’t been given enough of a consistent opportunity to play. If you put those stats out for over a 162 game season, he would average the same batting average, with 21 homers, 69 RBI’s, a .327 OBP, and .434 SLG.

Before the lockout went into effect, Frazier signed a one-year 1.5 million dollar contract with the Chicago Cubs. This is a prove-it deal for him, and I think it will be a massive move for him. Frazier is investing in himself and will pay big time for both him and the Cubs. He will have the ability to get his ABs, and in a stadium like Wrigley, I expect a big year out of him.

Conclusion

The Yankees are idiots, and I love to see it! They will not win another world series for ten years. As for Frazier, good for you, man! Glad to see you got out of that horrible franchise. You deserve the opportunity to play and show that you are the player they expected you to be. The Cubs got a great deal, and this is a match made in heaven for both sides. Good, bad or ugly, Chicago will allow him to get his playing time in simply because they are not expected to be a playoff contender this year. News flash for everyone here, though, the Cubs will be a serious World Series contender in the next two years. Frazier will be a massive factor in that. Don’t sleep on the Cubs and Clint Frazier.
