First Big XFL -> NFL Signing! P.J. Walker Inks Deal with Panthers

The Carolina Panthers made Teddy Bridgewater their starting quarterback just recently on a three year, 63 million dollar deal. They also just traded Kyle Allen today to the Washington Redskins. But, the Panthers do have a new backup quarterback. Just today, the Panthers announced the signing of former Houston Roughneck quarterback P.J. Walker.

The Stats

P.J. Walker was arguably the best quarterback during the shortened XFL season. He was leading the league in passing yards as well as total touchdowns. The former Temple QB was a one man wrecking crew. He easily was going to be the MVP of the XFL if not for…you know. Walker dazzled fans and spectators on television every week with his strong arm and good decision making.

This Opens a Door

This shows that if you excel, you’ll get opportunity. P.J. Walker took advantage of his quick tenure with the Houston Roughnecks, and ran with it. Now, he’s getting another shot at the NFL. It may be as a backup. But, it’s still a shot to be back in the NFL. Walker could be starting if Bridgewater goes down.

In Conclusion

This is just the beginning. P.J. Walker is going to be helping out tons of future XFL players see what the ultimate award can be. He lit it up in the XFL. Now, he gets his chance to go be in the NFL. Who can blame him anyway? The XFL season won’t start up again until next Feburary. I know for a fact Walker won’t be wanting to wait that long to play the game. Also, the XFL might just be proving that a second chance is all anybody needs in this life.
