Fantasy Football Week 1 Start’Em And Sit’Em

Ladies and gentleman fantasy football is just upon us. We have less than two weeks until the first game of the season. I am beyond excited from ear to ear. Now I have a nice little piece for you this week for those week one football games. I have my starts and my sits for the week. With that being said here are my starts and my sits for week one.

QB:

Start

Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are taking on the Tennessee Titans at Tennessee in week one. In his two week one starts, Murray has put on some great performances. In 2019 he threw for 308 passing yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and in 2020 he threw for 230 passing yards, but also added ninety rushing yards and two total touchdowns. So if that is the case you’re getting at least two total touchdowns from Murray in week one.

I also have the Titans defense ranked in the mid 20’s this week against this Arizona offense. With guys like DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green and the other talented weapons Arizona has it is hard to not start Kyler Murray here. He is going to be a top 10 fantasy quarterback every week and he is going to shine against this mediocre Titans defense in week one.

Sit

Derek Carr

Derek Carr and Vegas are going up against a tough defense in week one. They host the Ravens in the dome, but that Ravens defense looks like it is going to cause some problems this season. I have Baltimore’s defense in my top ten this week for defenses to play. I understand that Derek Carr has been a solid quarterback fantasy wise, but this is not the week for him. Sit Derek Carr at all cost this week as I have him ranked in the mid 20’s this week for fantasy football QB’s.

RB:

Start

Antonio Gibson

Antonio Gibson is a guy that I am huge on this season. We saw the potential last season as he finished in the top 15 last season. Now in year two I think he is going to take a huge step forward. The plan is for the Football Team to use him in the Christian McCaffrey type role, which provides tremendous value. He is easily a top five running back play this week. The Chargers last season were middle of the table when it came to run defense last season. For me there is still some question marks at linebacker for them and I truly feel Gibson exploits it a ton. Start Gibson in every single league this week.

Sit

Melvin Gordon

Melvin Gordon is definitely a sit this week. Gordon is going to be splitting carries with Javonte Williams and that is putting it lightly. Javonte Williams in my opinion is the number one rushing option for the Broncos not only this week, but this season as well. They are playing a favorable matchup against the Giants, but I don’t think Gordon will be serviceable enough to start. If you roster Melvin Gordon do yourself the favor and put him right on the bench because he will be extremely touchdown dependent in week one.

WR:

Start

D.J. Moore

I don’t know who needs to here it, but D.J. Moore is a must start this week. Moore and company are taking on the Jets which is Carolina’s starting quarterbacks first game against his old team. Darnold and Moore are going to be a duo that I will love to watch this season and this will be the coming out party. Moore has been a solid fantasy asset and this year we will see big things for him. In his week one matchup against the Jets (I have ranked in the mid teens this week) Moore is a shoe in for over 18 fantasy points in a standard or PPR. Start the train because the hype on D.J. Moore is real.

Sit

Kenny Golladay

Kenny Golladay has not looked like himself so far with the Giants. They also don’t have a favorable matchup against what I have as a top five defense to play this week. Denver’s defense is solid and they are going to be a nightmare for this Giants offense. Golladay getting covered by either Ronald Darby, Kyle Fuller or Patrick Surtain. I think he loses in all three of those potential matchups. If you roster Golladay sit him and play someone else, because he is going to be a bust this week.

TE:

Start

Kyle Pitts

Kyle Pitts will be a must start each and every week. We will see this first hand here in week number one. Pitts is going up against the Eagles and I believe he can have a field day against that defense. He will be the one that gets the bulk of the targets from Ryan in week one. I have Pitts as my TE3 this week due to how well I truly think he is going to play in week number one. Matt Ryan likes the guy a lot and when Ryan likes a target a lot he tends to go there more often than not. Look for Kyle Pitts to live up to the hype that fantasy football is surrounding him with.

Sit

Mike Gesicki

Mike Gesicki is one of the tight ends that I strongly believe is overrated this season. His quarterback isn’t even close to the top 20 fantasy QB’s. Also I think Gesicki’s ceiling isn’t all that great. He is a ok receiver in real life, but for fantasy purposes he had two good games last season that was it. We will see more of the same in week one in their matchup against the Patriots. Gesicki will be a must avoid in all fantasy leagues in week number one and you will thank me later for not playing him.
