Fans Watching The Celebrity Softball Game Last Night Missed A Giant Opportunity With Bill Nye

Bill Nye The Science Guy. The legend. The God. The man we all watched in school when our teachers didn’t feel like teaching. He stepped up to the plate last night and after clearly dominating the world of science, became a walking legend on the diamond.

But that’s not why I’m here. I don’t want to throw out any of Bill’s stats. That’s not me. Sure, he was roping some lasers like we saw in the video above. That’s great. But you know what I’m most rattled about? The fact that the fans missed out on a massive chance to have the largest crowd in history, I would assume, chant “BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL”. Are you kidding me?

I was waiting for it. Bill Nye is putting on an absolute show. His routes to the baseball we uncanny. He was Jackie Bradley-esque in the outfield. Tracking balls down at the fence and sending them back in in a half-second.

And sure, he got plenty of applause. But to miss out on a huge “Bill” chant on the same day that President Trump basically said he wanted to rename our country “Russia 2” is devastating. (I actually don’t know what was said but I know people are rattled about his meeting with Putin. ‘Sup trending topics?)

I don’t want to call the fans in DC a bunch of cotton-headed-ninny-muggins. But you know what. It’s days like this where my will-power must hold strong.

Also, I refuse to put quotes around “The Science Guy” because that’s absolutely on his birth certificate.
