While we freeze our butt offs here in New England, the other side of the pond has a tournament heating up and rather quickly!
Oh yes! We are talking about no other than the English Premier League tournament which is coming to an end very in the next month or so. With 26 games played by most teams amongst the league, Manchester City is the clear front-runner for the title this year. Following them is a Manchester United desperate to claw at the bid with hopes to turn things around and win the title.
The English Premier league has some games in between this week that could potentially determine the 2020/2021 season for good! Let’s look into it.
So as mentioned earlier, Manchester City continue their dominance on this tournament and rightfully so. The Pep Guardiola side has been incredible to watch, even after a rocky start to the tournament, the City side managed to pull it together and their dominant run has wreaked havoc across the EPL.

For today’s match, City goes against Wolves. While many look at this match and say it is an easy-win for City, some may even be in for a surprise of a tied game between these two or possibly a shocking victory by Wolves. It is the English Premier League and there is no such thing anymore as a safe bet.
Tomorrow and Thursday brings us a slew of interesting games. Lets have a look at what we got coming!
So as you can tell, a lot is on the line for teams that are in the top 10 spots of the table. I will dive into the games that I think have the most impact.
Leicester City vs. Burnley
A less than ideal situation for the foxes and Brendan Rodgers. Leicester managed to drop points against a highly competitive Arsenal side last week. In this weeks’ game against Burnley, it could be a costly match for the foxes if the results aren’t there as the West Ham United side is inching closer to taking over the 3rd spot. It is a must-win situation for Leicester which by the way they did this last year when they were against the fence, it wasn’t very successful. Good luck, Foxes!
Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace
You guys remember when I said it was time to panic for Manchester United fans? Well, it is happening and quickly! The Reds managed to walk away with what was a very boring game at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea that ended up tied. While the results are ok for United, they are too in a must-win situation against Crystal Palace if they want to maintain that 2nd place standing. United’s boss, Solsjkaer has a decent handle on this years’ team but it is worrisome that his inconsistencies in the lineup and often chemical trials could become the tombstone for this United team and their hopes for the title.
Key Matchup of the Week!
Liverpool vs. Chelsea FC.
What a battle we are in for and the stakes are to a very high standard between these two!
Tuchel since he took over the Chelsea management has gone 4-0-3 so far. Chelsea has managed to make a turnaround and Tuchel’s side have been strong and fun to watch rise so far. Chelsea sits currently in 5th place and 1pt ahead of Liverpool.
For Chelsea it is important to win this match and maintain their 5th place standing if they want to compete in next years’ Europa League. Meanwhile for Liverpool, a win against this good of a side would elevate their confidence levels and they desperately need it to keep going after a decent win against a tough Sheffield United side.
Yes, I am calling Sheffield tough and you would too. Sheffield while in last place have managed to make it a nightmare for every team in the top 5 standings and Liverpool managed to escape with a great performance that involved Curtis Jones.
Another thing worth noting is, this is the first time in awhile that Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp go face-to-face! Yes, Klopp was a big influence for Tuchel and now Tuchel will be going against his inspiration!
I strongly recommend that you do not miss a single minute of action of the Premier League. With less than 9 matchdays to go, it is coming right down to the stretch that can either make it or break it for every top 10 standing team. I also strongly recommend that you tune in this Sunday at 11AM to the Couch Guy Sports Twitch Channel as the team from the Yellow Card Podcast will be providing live commentary on the game of the season! Yes, you heard it hear first, the Manchester Derby live commentary will be provided by your boys at the Yellow Card Podcast this Sunday! Do not miss out!!!!
