RIP to arguably the scariest secondary to ever play professional football.
After Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas broke his leg yesterday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals, he had one message to share with his (former?) team:
If this is the end… can I be surprised and not at all? https://t.co/7HUjRHZu8Y

First of all, if Thomas’ gesture makes you angry, please stop watching sports. I don’t care how much he’s under contract for, that man has every right to be pissed off right now. He’s played well above his current cap hit of $8.5M for this current season. He decided to put that contract dispute behind him and report to the team so he could prove his worth on the field. But because he decided to take the high road, he now has to suffer the consequences. This injury could wind up costing Thomas millions of dollars, which just isn’t right. And of course, once he gets hurt, the team announces that they were “getting close” to trading him:
A case of bad timing: The #Seahawks had lowered their asking price for star S Earl Thomas, the #Chiefs were focused on clearing cap space for a possible trade… then Thomas fractured his leg. pic.twitter.com/jAopabdRfp

Personally, I’m not buying this story for a second. This is just Seattle’s way of covering their own asses.
With Thomas preparing to hit free agency next Spring, he has a big decision to make. And honestly, if I were him, I would flip Seattle the bird for the second time. He shouldn’t even have a meeting with them as far as I’m concerned. He should have plenty of suitors across the league who actually value him.
With this potential departure comes the official end of an era in Seattle. First Richard Sherman, then Kam Chancellor, now Earl Thomas. The Legion of Boom gave QB’s around the league nightmares for years. It’s sad to see it end the way it did, but hopefully Thomas can make a full recovery and get back to his high level of play elsewhere.
