Dodgers Mookie Betts: “We Want to Win Now”
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a huge statement at the MLB trade deadline. They went out and acquired Nationals ace Max Scherzer and shortstop Trea Turner.

Believe it or not, the Dodgers needed to these two.
Trevor Bauer is currently out indefinitely and might not play for the Dodgers again. He is currently out on administrative leave after he was accused of sexual assault. Clayton Kershaw is on the injured list with a forearm injury. Mookie Betts hasn’t been his superstar self and has been dealing with a hip injury.
On top of all of that, Cody Bellinger has been awful this season. He is hitting .156 with five home runs, 21 RBIs in 47 games this season.
In fairness, Bellinger hasn’t been healthy, all more of a reason for Dodgers President of Baseball Operations to be aggressive.
Lastly, speaking of not being healthy, the Dodgers have been without Corey Seager for two and a half months due to a fractured bone in his right hand.

One player in particular has been really excited by the Dodgers aggressiveness at the deadline. Betts spoke with reporters and commented on the Dodgers huge trade deadline acquisitions.
“It just shows the front office is here, we want to win now and we want to win every year. Being part of an organization like this is the reason why I’m here,” said Betts.
The Dodgers have been aggressive in their pursuit in being one of the games dominant teams over the last handful of years. Prior to the start of the pandemic shortened season, Betts was traded to Los Angeles by the Boston Red Sox.
The Dodgers deep farm system allowed them to be aggressive and acquire Betts and David Price for Alex Verdugo, top prospect Jeter Downs and catcher Connor Wong.
Conclusion
Mookie Betts will return to the Dodgers lineup this Sunday as the Dodgers complete their series with Arizona. Los Angeles will be getting the reinforcements back as they look to cut down the Giants three game lead in the NL West.
The NL West will be extremely competitive down the stretch because the third place Padres are lurking in the shadows.
The trade deadline frenzy was fun for fans and the game. It will not be time for these teams to see if they’ll get a return on their investment. The Dodgers are loaded and Mookie Betts is fired up and ready to get back on the field.
