It is the week of the NFL draft and all I can think about is Dodgers verse Padres baseball. We had it for 2 straight weekends and now we will not see it again until late June. That is okay because it will just make us want it more. The first series was very exciting and I recap it here. But, that is not the only thing going on in the baseball world, the A’s just ended a 13 winning streak. Lastly, Jacob deGrom is pitching out of this world.

Dodgers v Padres Round 2

As I said last week when the Dodgers and Padres play each other it gives off the feeling of a playoff game. This round might have been better than the first round. The Padres won 3 out of the 4 games. Now the Padres lead the season series 4-3.

In this series 3 of the 4 games were decided by 1 run. It also showed off the face of baseball Fernando Tatis Jr. He had 5 homers in the last 3 games of the series. The first 2 games were against Clayton Kershaw and Trevor Bauer, 2 Cy Young winners.

In the 3rd game there is a video of Tatis look back at the Dodgers catcher to see the sign he gave to Bauer. This caused a lot of waves on Twitter. Tatis would hit a homerun on that pitch. Many people say this is wrong. But if the catcher is lazy and gives away his location it is on him. I caught most of my playing days and I would watch the hitter while I give signs. If they peaked I would mix up my signs. We will see what happens the next time the Dodgers and Padres face off.

Oakland A’s Have 13 Game Winning Streak

The Oakland A’s started off the season 0-6 and now are 15-8. That is helped by a 13 game winning streak that lasted from 4/9 to 4/25. The A’s are most likely a playoff team in 2021. But this win streak saw them win in many different ways. They won a couple games 7-0 and had a good offensive game, then another game 1-0 with great pitching. One game they won 13-12 in extras with some comebacks in that game. If the A’s can stay hot like this as they go into the playoffs I would not want to face them.

Jacob deGrom Is Too Good

After his complete game shutout with 15 strikeouts, Jacob deGrom got his ERA down to 2.00…since the start of 2018. Yeah. Over his last EIGHTY starts, deGrom has a 2.00 ERA to lead MLB with the second most strikeouts (678) in 518 innings. His record is still somehow 27-20. pic.twitter.com/JpL6n6APLm

Please read that tweet as many times as you need to. Those stats are ridiculous! Jacob deGrom has been letting up 2 runs per 9 innings over the last 3 seasons. That is absolutely insane. But the thing is the Mets just do not win when he pitches. Most games the Mets will lose 2-1 or 1-0 in his starts. Baseball fans need to see deGrom win a World Series ring. He is the best pitcher in baseball. Hopefully one day either the Mets win or deGrom goes to a team that wins it all.

Wrap Up

The Padres and Dodgers met again this weekend it was more exciting than the last time. We will not see it again until June. The Oakland A’s rattled off 13 wins in a row and showed they can win in any way. Jacob deGrom is doing things we have not seen in a long time. Catch me on Legends Lingo.
