Did the Patriots Just Acquire the Best Right Tackle in the NFL?

With the departure of Nate Solder in free agency, the Patriots have made it a point to address their offensive line in the last 24 hours.

First, they selected guard/tackle (who knows) Isaiah Wynn out of Georgia with the 23rd overall pick in the first round of last nights draft (I wanted Lamar Jackson but whatever). And now it appears they’ve just landed right tackle and former seventh round pick Trent Brown from the San Fransisco 49ers. After San Fran took o-lineman Mike McGlinchey in the first round last night, they made Brown available. The Patriots and 49ers are newfound trade partners since the Jimmy G. trade, so it makes sense why SF would ship Brown to New England. But did John Lynch (49ers GM if ya don’t know) just trade us the best tackle in the game right now?

According to Von Miller, you know, the one who won Super Bowl MVP, this kid might be the best RT in the league as of today. There are a lot of good tackles in this league, so that’s some seriously high praise. Especially coming from a guy like Miller, who basically eats offensive linemen for breakfast.

With the Patriots surplus of picks at the top of the draft, I’m okay with them making this trade. They didn’t have to give up a lot of capital to get this guy, which is always a good thing. And he’s a friggin MONSTER, standing at 6 foot 8 and weighing in at 359 pounds. If he pans out to be as good as Miller claims, I absolutely love the trade.
