Despite the result, outdoor game was a success
Nashville is legit
This past weekend, the 2022 Navy Federal Credit Union Stadium Series was in Nashville, Tennessee. The Nashville Predators took on the back-to-back Stanley Cup champs Tampa Bay Lightning. This was Nashville’s first outdoor hockey game and it didn’t disappoint. Nissan Stadium holds 68,619 and it SOLD OUT. I would say at least 80% of the people at the game were Nashville fans, and the rest were a mix of Lightning and random fans. It’s crazy to believe how far the fan base has come since their first season in 1998. Since then, Nashville has hosted NHL Draft(2003), NHL All-Star game(2016), Stanley Cup(2017), and now outdoor game. Many years ago, people didn’t know if hockey would work in the south, but Nashville have proved people wrong time and time again. This was Nashville’s second outdoor game. They played in the Winter Classic last season against the Dallas Stars in Dallas. where the Predators also lost. Tampa Bay on the other hand has never played in an outdoor game, which is good for the game to grow.

What’s next for Nashville?
Next thing the Predators have on their list to win the Stanley Cup. They have already hosted all events, now they need to bring some hardware home, but in theme time, hopefully Nashville keeps holding events. More than likely won’t have the All-Star game or another outdoor game for a while, so the next most likely would be the draft. The outdoor game was second coolest experience that I’ve got to witness for the team. The first one is easy, and that’s watching them play in the Stanley Cup Finals. All-Star game/festivities were also fu, but not like the other two.
Nashville has one of the best/craziest fan bases in the NHL, and NHL players will tell you that. A lot of opposing teams love coming to the city, but hate playing in Bridgestone Arena. Can’t wait to see what the organzation has in-store for the future.
