Derrick Rose Signs With the Minnesota Timberwolves

I love the must use preface of “former MVP”. When people start tossing former MVP in front of your name, it means you’re garbage now. How often do you hear “former MVP” Lebron James/Kevin Durant/Steph Curry? Never. Because they don’t suck. Derrick Rose sucks.

This is the guy who was gonna do great things this year being partnered with Lebron. He didn’t. This is also the guy that was gonna do big things for the Knicks in 2016-17. To be fair, he did play decently well. But he also ghosted the team for a few weeks (did I use that right? I feel like I didn’t, but who the hell knows).

Rose’s MVP season of 2010-11 was a bit fraudulent because voters had Lebron fatigue, and didn’t want to vote for him in his first year in Miami. Giving Rose the chance to win an MVP. But now, he’s a 29-year-old bad player, with a pair of bad ACL’s. Yet somehow he netted a contract with a good team.

If a tanking team made this signing, it’d be like yeah whatever. It’s strange when a good team signs a bad player to take away minutes from a good player (Tyus Jones). But it’s less strange when you consider all the factors here.

Derrick Rose and Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau are that couple that everyone has experienced. The couple that is horrible for each other, but just can’t quit each other. Thibodeau ruined Rose’s career, and he feels bad about it. Rose wants to give the love of his life another chance. They found their way back to each other. They are the Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez of the NBA.
