Darren Till Proves He’s The Real Deal After UFC Liverpool

One of the most highly anticipated fights of the summer went down this Sunday. UFC fight night Liverpool featured two welterweights who are in title contention.

Number 1 ranked Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, faced off against number 8 ranked Darren Till. The fight took place in Liverpool, which is Darren Till’s hometown. When it came time for the main event the crowd went absolutely bananas as Darren Till entered the cage. The crowd booed Thompson, which is something Thompson’s definitely not use to. The fight went exactly how I expected a slow paced fight that was very technical. Wonderboy got the better of Till in the first two rounds, even though Till was using legs kicks which bruised up Thompson’s leg badly. As the fight went on Till started to up the pressure and was hitting Tompson with some good shots. Till was the aggressor though out the fight and even dropped Thompson in round 5. The crowd erupted as Bruce Buffer announced Darren Till the winner via unanimous decision. Even though he lost, Stephen Thompson remand classy and showed nothing but respect to Till.

It seems like fighter are picking up how to beat Thompson. After Woodly beat Thompson in their rematch it set up the blue print for beating Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Darren Till fought the perfect fight against Thompson. He was aware Wonderboy likes to counter strike so he was patient and was moving forward a good portion of the fight. The future looks bright for Darren Till. He said he wants to wipe the entire division out before he gets a title shot. Darren Till is the next big thing in the UFC, he’s young and said he wants to fight in three different weight classes. During a time where the UFC doesn’t have many huge stars, Darren Till is what they need right now.
