Daniel Bryan to re-sign with WWE

For the past year or two, Daniel Bryan has teased us and WWE with the possibility that he may leave WWE to go to wrestle again for the indies. Even on live shows such as Talking Smack, Daniel has stated that “if they don’t clear me to wrestle, I’ll probably go wrestle elsewhere.”

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has confirmed that an agreement has been met between Bryan and WWE. Here’s his statement from Wrestler Observer Nation:

“Daniel Bryan just signed his new contract so they’ve agreed on terms. As of 9/3 it was not official since WWE hadn’t signed it, but that’s a formality and it should be official very soon if not this week. It’s been pretty much a given now for several weeks that he wasn’t going anywhere for a number of reasons. But it was not an easy decision and he was lucky that whatever his decision was going to be, there was no wrong decision.”

Given the course of his spot right now, Meltzer is right. He wasn’t going anywhere as he’s smack dab in the middle of a hot feud with Miz that the WWE Universe has wanted for years. The upcoming mixed tag match involving his wife Brie and Miz’s wife Maryse doesn’t do anything for me at all, but if SmackDown Live keeps giving us matches as good as Daniel vs Andrade “Cien” Almas, I can live with him staying on SmackDown.

Daniel is not afraid to say what he wants, even with all eyes on him. He constantly tweets at non-WWE and/or ex-WWE stars, and one would think that it’s not always in his, or his employers. He’s been a little on the sidelines since returning this year, but I feel there might be a change coming.

Earlier in the year, he was interviewed about a feud with Miz for the WWE title leading all the way to the main event of Wrestlemania. His response:

“I am definitely up for it. My question – you ask me that question, I will answer it with a question. Do you trust WWE with telling that story from now until WrestleMania 35? [laughs] Like, what in the last several years has shown to you that something like that is possible here?”

It appears WWE is taking him up on that offer. A big win at Wrestlemania 35 would be the ultimate cap off to Daniel Bryan’s redemption story since coming back from injury. Not a fan in the world doesn’t want to see this again.
