Couch Guy Reviews: Avengers: Infinity War
Holy shit people, it’s finally here! Avengers: Infinity War is the newest superhero film from Marvel, the 19th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and arguably the most anticipated movie in cinematic history. It is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and stars (take a deep breath) Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin (and many more). Words cannot describe my feelings and reaction to watching this movie so let’s finally review Avengers: Infinity War.
So going into this movie, I knew it was going to be hard to separate my fandom to give a fair and honest review. I want to let you know that I tried my best. So what did I think of Avengers: Infinity War? HOLY SHIT THIS MOVIE WAS SPECTACULAR! Avengers: Infinity War has surpassed The Dark Knight as the greatest cinematic experience of my entire life. I laughed, I cried, I was emotionally wiped. I am going to keep this review pretty simple and vague because let’s face it, you’re going to see this movie regardless. And yes, I would recommend that you go see this movie.
As for what stood out to me, it was Thanos. Without question, he the best villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and maybe the best villain in any comic book movie. Yes, he’s up there with Heath Ledger’s Joker. He is a serious threat whenever he is on screen and you feel like no one is safe. Marvel has built up to Thanos for years and boy did it pay off. Also, I have to say that the CGI on Thanos was absolutely amazing. Half way through the movie, I kept thinking to myself that he looked real. Money well spent Disney.

I also have to give this movie credit for the balls it had. Bringing in dozens of these characters to meet with one another for the first time is so tricky but I think the Russo Brothers did as good of a job as you could have. Everyone has a moment to shine while some may get the spotlight more than others. They also take a lot more risks than previous Marvel movies in the past and they work for the most part. My only complaint is spoiler territory so that is something we won’t talk about until next week. But in conclusion, Avengers: Infinity War is one of the best comic book movies ever made and Thanos easily lives up to the hype. Go see this movie as fast as you can so we can discuss spoilers next week!
