Couch Guy Reviews: Avengers: Endgame
IT’S HERE, IT’S FINALLY HERE!
Avengers: Endgame is the newest superhero movie and the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is also the final film in the “Infinity Saga” and is expected to be the last Avengers movie. It is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo whom also directed Avengers: Infinity War.
It stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin. This is my most anticipated movie of the year and may just be the most anticipated movie of all-time. And I fucking saw it. LET’S REVIEW!
When reviewing a movie with this amount of hype and expectation, it’s important to put aside your thoughts going into the film and just watch the movie unfold. That being said, after watching Avengers: Endgame; I can tell you that it is was the most emotionally draining experience of my entire life.
Avengers: Endgame is a terrific movie and a fantastic ending to the MCU. I will tell you this, this isn’t the greatest superhero movie of all-time; but it may be the greatest film event of all-time.
So starting off, yes this is a 3 hour movie and it didn’t feel like it at all. Yes it is a bit slow in the beginning but you are never bored. There is an important difference there. There are a lot of great character moments that pay off later in the film.
Without getting into spoilers; Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Nebula were all standouts to me. My opinion on Nebula has drastically changed through out these past two films.
I do have some complaints in this film, specifically the way some characters were handled throughout the movie.
But that would be getting into spoiler territory which I am not going to do here. That will be for later this weekend. Other than that, Avengers: Endgame is a great superhero movie and a true ending to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
These movies have meant so much to me over my life and I’m so lucky I got to witness this. Go see this movie.
