Colorado’s QB Shedeur Sanders continues his dominance this season.

Shedeur Sanders continues to do great things

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been one of the best players in college football this season so far. Head coach Deion “Prime” Sanders brought his son with him when he left Jackson State University for the Colorado job. Sanders has led his team with his son under center to the 19th-best team in the country in the AP top 25 poll. The program has gone under a major makeover since Coach Prime took over. All of last season the team went (1-12 )and already this season they beat Texas Christian University on the road as underdogs and are (3-0). Sanders has been a big reason for his impressive numbers as the team’s starting quarterback.

In three games he has 1,251 passing yards, 10 TDs, 1 INT, a CMP% of 78.7, and with a passer rating of 178.7. These are phenomenal stats just three games into the 2023 campaign. There is a lot of hype surrounding him and being a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy award at the end of the season. The Heisman goes to the best player in college football and it might come down to him and USC’s Caleb Williams another great quarterback and last years winner of the award. No matter where he is the quarterback, Sanders was great the two seasons he was at Jackson State throwing for 70 TD’s and only having 14 INT’s.

Sanders faces two tough teams in Oregon and USC back-to-back

The real test for Sanders and company comes this week when the 10th team in the country Oregon Ducks hosts Colorado this Saturday. Then looking to the following week USC pays a visit to Boulder when the Buffaloes host the 5th team in the country. Both of these games will be a real test for father and son and see how they perform against two of the best teams in football. This team has a new identity, so I see them being very competitive against the toughest competition in football.

If the team can either win both games or split one of these games they will be in great shape looking at the rest of their schedule. No one expected them to run the table and go undefeated but if they stay on the pace they are currently on they could be in the top 10 sooner than later. You have to think that Coach Prime would like to be one of the top 4 teams at the end to compete for the national title or even be part of the playoff.

Shedeur at the next level in the NFL

Can Shedeur keep his pace heading into the NFL when the time is ready for him to make the jump? It’s very much possible because we see guys like Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, Cardinals QB Kyler Murray, Colts QB Anthony Richardson, and Texans QB C.J. Stroud be successful, I know it’s still early for some of the rookies this season. In regards talking about Sanders, he has the ability to do both pass and use his legs and that can transition well heading to the pro level. He’s easily a first-round talent and will he be drafted as a quarterback or maybe a wide receiver? I’m sure he rather stick to being a quarterback and nothing else. It will be interesting if he declares for the NFL or comes back and plays one more season under his father.
